Brigung School in Tibetan Medicine

Tibetan medicine is an integral part of Chinese medicine as a
whole. It is not only a subject of natural science created by Tibetan
people during their struggle against diseases, but also an integral
part of "academic division of ten disciplines" in traditional
Tibetan culture.
In the sixteenth century, Reg'jin Chesgrags--the great master of
21th generation of Brigung school created Brigung Tibetan medicine,
which occupied a very important position in Tibetan medical history.
Reg'jin Chosgrags developed unique therapy and dosage prescription
with his wisdom and clever hands during practising medicine and
traveling based on rGyud-bzi written by Yuthog Yontan Gongpo. He
not only wrote a lot of books about Tibetan medicine, but also received
many students, which make Brigung School of Tibetan medicine carried
forward and inherited.
Later, Chebang Tanpa-one of Reg'jin Chosgrags students-inherited
his medical knowledge and promoting the development of Brigung school
Tibetan medicine with more perfected and richer clinical experience.
It contributes a lot to the welfare of Tibetan people.
