The Gyangze Mattress Factory produces exquisite mattresses with a variety of flower and animal patterns, including lotuses, wintersweets, peonies, giant pandas, tigers and lions. It also produces tapestries, the patterns of which include the magnificent Potala Palace, grassland scenery, the Nanjing Bridge over the Yangtze River and the Great Wall.

　　It is said that 300 years ago, a mattress weaver from Gamba County settled down in Gyangze. His weaving technique was adopted by more and more people, until eventually Gyangze became famous for mattresses with special materials, fresh colors and elegant patterns.

　　At present, the factory produces 45 types of mattresses and tapestries, with a total annual output of 4,500 square meters, 100 square meters of which are tapestries. Patterns inspired by folk art and Tibetan characteristics include "Prosperity Brought by the Dragon and Phoenix" and "Two Dragons Playing with a Pearl." The products are not only well received by local people, but also by customers from other countries. Every year, a large quantity of mattresses are shipped abroad.
