Tibetan carpet
In the style of the ancients. The Ti-betan carpet is a fresh
flower of China's carpet flower garden, with a history of 600 years.
In 1973, it entered the international market under the brand name
of Tibetan Carpet, China, and won a good reputation.
With a unique weaving style, Tibetan carpet has bright and harmonious
colors, which is not faded while being washed. Its face is soft
and fine. It is also durable. Its strong national feature of design
add more value of appreciation. Therefore, it is praised for its
exquisite technique and beauty. Among all the Tibet carpets, Gyangze
carpet enjoys the highest reputation. In August 1979, it was named
a fine quality product at the na-tional conference of art and craft
designers. In addition, the carpets produced by Lhasa, Konggar,
Nanggarze, Nangxian, Dengqen and Chagyab are all highly praised.
According to different sizes, those larger than 18 square feet
are called carpet, while smaller ones are called kardian. Loved
by Tibetan people, kardian is a necessity of every fam-ily for both
decoration and practical use. As demand increases, the production
scale is getting larger. In addition to the carpet factories in
Lhasa, Gyangze, Qamdo, Xigaze, Zetang and Nagqu, many counties and
towns have also estab-lished carpet plants and processing teams.
The Gyangze Carpet Factory has increased its variety from the original
eight to 50 kinds, and its annual output has increased at an average
rate of 56 percent. With the increase of quantity and the improvement
of technique, new designs are continuously created. Now there are
not only de-signs of two dragons playing with a pearl, pictures
of mountains and water, dragons and clouds, dragons and phoenix,
and other traditional designs, but also landscape designs such as
Mount Qomolangma, the Great Wall, the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge,
the Potala Palace and Gyangze's Anti-British Castle, as well as
the new face of grassland. Carpets are well sold both at home and
abroad, and Tibet boasts natural advantages in developing carpet
production, so Tibet's carpet has a promis-ing future.
