General Commanding Office for Qinghai-Tibet Railway Set up

The general commanding office for Qinghai-Tibet Railway construction has been set up in Golmud City, Tibet. The governments of Tibet Autonomous Region and Qinghai Province have formed their respective leading group to support the railway construction.

The huge project has brought great opportunity to the people at the foot of Kunlun Mountains for an unprecedented development. The construction of the roadbed requires piles upon piles of stonework and gravel and sand. This will help the farmers and herdsmen of the two regions to increase their income, creating a good basis for the economic development on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

A logistic service center was set up in Xining Railway Bureau so as to provide best support to the project. The Golmud-Lhasa Railway stretches 1110 kilometers, of which the project between Golmud to Wangkun will be started this year, covering 440 kilometers with an investment of seven billion-yuan.
