Longest Bridge Under Construction on Qinghai-Tibet Railway

Construction has gone underway of the longest bridge along the Qinghai-Tibet railway line and also the first bridge over the Yangtze River.

The railway bridge, measuring 1,389.6 meters long, will be supported by 42 arches each spanning 32 meters.

The most difficult task, according to the engineers and workers at the construction site, is to protect the surrounding environment in that the location of the bridge is close to the source of the Yangtze River.

The engineers and workers will have to make special efforts so as not to allow the construction pollute the source of China's longest river.
