Research on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau System Making Major Breakthrough

China's science and technology task force on land and resources during the 9th Five-Year Plan (1996-2000) have made marked progress in conducting research on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau system.

The just-concluded 9th Five-Year Plan Science and Technology Summary Work and Commending Conference held by the Ministry of Land and Resources revealed that Chinese scientific workers have made major breakthrough in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau system research, continental scientific drilling projects and research on the origin of birds.

The new progress helped to consolidate China's position among world's geology circles.
