Railway Embankment Almost Complete Near Lhasa The embankment
for the railway line near Lhasa is almost complete after two months of hard work
in the winter season. The 1,687-meter section from the Zao'erfeng Tunnel
to the Lhasa Railway Station, the last mile on the 1,080-kilometer Qinghai-Tibet
railway line, has just finished paving the base tier with stone slabs. The
construction squad undertaking the project has worked out five special procedures
so as to guarantee the quality of the embankment and hence the railway track proper
that is expected to be laid out next year. Dec 02 Xinhuanet
