5b to Be Invested in Construction of Qinghai-Tibet Railway

A further 5 billion yuan (609.7 million U.S. dollars) will be invested in the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet railway line next year.
The addition of the investment will guarantee the smooth construction of the 1,118-kilometer railway line from Qolmu, a town in the Qinghai Province, to Lhasa, capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region.
This year, 1 billion yuan has already been spent on the embankment of the railway line between the two cities and some of the tunnels that have to be dug through before the railway tracks can be laid out.
The Qinghai-Tibet railway line, that went under construction in June this year, is expected to be complete in six years. (
