The Author
Born in 1934 in a small noble family in Gyantse,W.Tailing began
his old-style schooling at the age of six in Tibet.Another six years
later,at the age of twelve,in 1946,he attended St.Joseph's College,Darjeeling,India.At
the beginning of 1953he returned to Tibet and worked in Gyantse
and Shigatse,first as a teacher,then as an office worker.In 1977
his work was transferred to Lhasa to the Tibet Education Bureau.In
1985 with the opening of tourism industry in Tibet,he joined the
Tibet Tourism USA,Canada,Nepal,Bolivia and Hong Kong.During 1986¡ª1987
he worked in the China Tibet Qomolangma Travelways in Hong Kong.In
his later years,since 1992 he retired from office and took to pen:writing
and translating.His major works include:
Tibet¡ªthe Land and the People,a translation from Chinese into English.
ATour Guide's Diary,written in English.
The Secret Tale of Tesur House,a novel written both in Tibetan and
English.
