
Nyalam and Zham Nature Reserve belongs
to the synthetical type with an area
of 6,852 hectare. The main protection
objects are wild animals and forest
ecological system. The nature reserve
lies in Nyalam County at the sea level
of 2,400 meters, with a warm and wet
sub-tropic climate. Thanks to the abundant
rainfall and the low sea level, it is
very clear to the vertical scenery of
the forest vegetation, distributing
highland bush, sub-highland needle-leaf
forest, mountain broad-leaf forest and
mountain evergreen forest. From May
rain season every year, in the nature
reserve the cloud and mist rise, mountain
flowers open, innumerous springs flow,
and every waterfall shows. In the deep
place of the dense forest, Tibetan Snow
Chickens, Little Pandas, and water dogs
move about. Besides, many rare animals
live there, for examples, Muntiacus
muntjak, Butastur teesa, Felis chaus.
Most of them are national second-grade
key protection animals.
