Nagarijuna was the forefather
of the Madhyamika of the Greater Vehicle of Buddhism
in ancient India and one of the six philosophers in
the Southern Continent.He was born from a Brahmanan
family in Southern India four hundred years later
after the death of Sakyamuni.He began to study Four
Tantras, Tantric Tripitaka, other classics and other
knowledge.He was initiated by Grand Chan Master Sa-rab-hapa
in the Nalanda Monastery and was given a monastic
title of dPal-sde Bhiksu.He wrote many Buddhist works,such
as Six Kinds of Theories on the Madhyamika and Collected
Works of Treatises.He also wrote many books on medicine,including
Method of Preparing Root of Chinese Alpine Rush(Herb),Catalogue
of Precious Herbs,The Way of Longevity,Smelting Method
of Mercury,Four Ways of Curing Poisoning,etc.He also
participated in designing and constructing many pagodas
and monasteries.He had many disciples,among whom Aryadeva
was the most outstanding one.
