Tibetology in Contemporary China
The Tibetan race is one
of the 56 ethnic groups which form the Chinese nation. It
is distributed mainly in the Tibet Autonomous Region and areas
inhabited by the Tibetans in the four provinces of Sichuan,
Qinghai, Gansu and Yunnan. Tibetology is a comprehensive science
specialized in studying the history of the Tibetan race, its
status quo and future development. Though China is hometown
to Tibetology, the cause experienced ups and downs over the
past 1,000 years. It didn't boom until in 1949 when the People's
Republic of China was founded.
