Tibet Highway
Nagqu-Qamdo Highway
Nagqu-Qamdo Highway (No.317 National Trunk Highway) starts
from Chengdu of Sichuan Province on the east and ends at Nagqu
Town of Tibet. The Chengdu-Qamdo section is part of the old
Kangding-Tibet Highway. It traverses Qamdo, Leiniaoqi, Dengqing,
Baqing, Sogshang and Nagqu, and has 1,058 kilometers in Tibet.
It started construction in 1956 and was open to traffic in
1958.
The highway is one of the major thoroughfares of economic
and cultural exchanges between Tibet and other south western
provinces and cities and connecting North and East Tibet.
