Jiao
Bo, son of a rural family in central Shandong, had rich career
experiences, ranging from carpenter, countryside teacher, schoolmaster
and employee of local Education Bureau. In 1985, he was recruited
as photographer for a city newspaper. Since 1995, he has worked
for the oversea edition of People Daily.
In 1990, he made a tour of photographic investigation along
the Long March route by bicycle. The 9-month arduous journey
brought a leap for his shooting skills as well as his personality.
His camera always focuses on common people, including his own
parents. In 1998, a series of photos titled My Mom and Dad won
the "Contribution to Human Beings" award in the 1st
World Folkways Photo Competition. In the same year, a photo
exhibition of the same title, which was held at the National
Art Gallery arouse a worldwide attention and was acclaimed as
"the only exhibition that moves the audience to tears in
recent years." |
